TR5. The Great White Throne Judgment

Mankind began when God created Adam and Eve. Fast forward several thousand years and the day of reckoning will come when Jesus will return to set up His 1,000-year Millennial Kingdom here on earth. After that, He will sit on the Great White Throne to judge EVERY person throughout the history of mankind for how they have lived their lives. Every soul is a sinner and those that are not saved in Christ through His atoning blood on the Cross, will find that their sins are not forgiven and they will forever be separated from God to face His righteous wrath in the Lake of Fire. This is also the final, eternal place of torment for Satan and the fallen angels, the beast of Revelation and the false prophet.

The Word

  • "11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. "15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Rev 20:11-13,15
  • "36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Matt 12:36-37

Description

We already understand the concept of a king and his throne in ancient times by reading history, watching the movies and TV documentaries. No one is higher than the king of a kingdom and his words could not be challenged and the lives of his subjects were in his hands. He did not need to explain to anyone his actions and neither was he held accountable by anyone. His commands were final and absolute.

Jesus will return as King to earth for the second time, in what is called the Second Coming of Christ. He is equal to God in the Trinity, having divine authority and power. That is why the Bible writes that He is God above all gods, King above all kings and Lord above all lords (Rev 19:16).

The first time Jesus came was a man but without sin. He was crucified on the Cross to become a propitiation for our sins and his accomplished work defeated spiritual death. That is why, those who repent and believe in Jesus as their Savior, will attain spiritual life. In Jesus’ resurrection, believers are also resurrected with Him into eternal life.

The King will rule from Jerusalem, yes the very same Jerusalem in modern day Israel, for a thousand years. This is called the Millennial Kingdom of Christ. His heavenly throne will be manifested here on earth and He will enlist His saints in their resurrected 'physical' bodies, to govern "the sheep" (read 'MK2. Who enters the Millennial Kingdom and why are they chosen by Jesus?'), were witnesses for Christ during the Great Tribulation and had rejected the satanic beast and his '666' mark.

At the end of Christ’s Millennial rule, He will judge the works of ALL people through time except those who have already been found righteous in their faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Old Testament and those who are born again in Jesus as their Lord and Savior from the time of His First Coming. Their names are found in the Lamb's Book of Life and they will have a place in the New Heaven and New Earth, the eternal dwelling place of the Lord.

Jesus as King will judge from His throne known in the Bible as the Great White Throne. 'Great' and 'Throne' is self-explanatory and we won’t discuss them here. The term ‘White’ represents the purity, holiness and righteousness of God that will be the standard and measure of the judgment that will be carried out.

Every soul from Day 1 of creation through to that point in time of the Great White Throne judgment, will stand before Jesus Christ to give account of their life. They will be judged for EVERYTHING – their thoughts, their emotions, their speech and their actions in life - and will be found to be guilty of breaking God’s laws and statutes as written in the Bible.

This is the last and final time when the Lord sits to judge. All the ungodly through time are spiritually lost and by their very own sin and rejection to be saved in Christ, have damned themselves into the eternal Lake of Fire.
