The Apostate church and the world are united against Biblical Truth and as we enter the Last Days, a clear separation of true followers of Jesus from the followers of the world has emerged.

DOES GOD'S LONGSUFFERING RUN OUT OF PATIENCE?
Num 14:18 says that "The Lord is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression;"
2 Peter 3:9 writes that God can be longsuffering but in Amos 8:11-13 given God's holiness and righteousness, there are limits to His patience with those who have made their hearts as an adamant stone
THE APOSTATE CHURCH
Today, there is the true Ekklesia of Jesus Christ next to the Apostate church which has over a billion adherents who profess Christ but include a number of unbiblical doctrine such as asking Mary, the mother of Jesus, to intercede on our behalf.
1 Timothy 4:1 writes that "in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" and 2 Timothy 4:3-4 states, that the time will come when 'Christians' will not put up with sound doctrine and in wanting to suit their own desires, they will call upon teachers who will preach what their carnal ears itch to hear.
The Apostate church interprets the Bible to suit its humanistic and worldly view. It wants little to do with Godly truth. As apostates deny God's truth, He denies them the hearing of the Word (Amos 8:11-13). Without spiritual revelation and the opening of eyes by the Holy Spirit, the Apostate's path to salvation is blocked and his eternal fate decided by his apostasy.
Such 'Christians' include cultural Christians who in their heart do not truly believe that Jesus went to the Cross to be a propitiation for their sins (1 John 4:10). They want the best of God's blessings and at the same time, the best of worldly lifestyle that is contrary to God's righteousness, holiness and justice. They want a life of self-serving, earthly pleasure over true Godliness. They are not entirely unaware of God's statutes and instructions but they care little about it. They will go to preachers that compromise or distort God's Word in order to satisfy their itching ears. They have become self-deceived to pursue their own paths and desires. As time goes on, will God remain silent about those who dishonor His Name? Matt 15:8-9 writes, "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."
APOSTATE ISRAEL
Up until today, the Gospel is falling on deaf ears on the majority of Jews globally. They first rejected the Old Testament prophets and then Jesus and had Him crucified. God Himself has blinded the Jews for a time for their stiff-necked unbelief and this can be traced back to the ministry of Jesus when He went to the Jews and His crucifixion. The ancestors of the Jews today had brought judgment upon themselves and successive generations until the times of the Gentiles is complete (Luke 21:24). The Gentiles will have dominion over the world right up to Christ's Second Coming to set up His Millennial Kingdom on earth. That is when God will open the eyes of a remnant of Jews who will call upon the Name of Jesus and be redeemed.
God's redemption of a Jewish remnant for His possession will take place during the Great Tribulation just prior to Christ's Second Coming.
UNREPENTANT UNBELIEVERS
God in His longsuffering extends His hand of reconciliation to every Jew and Gentile (John 3:16-17). According to the Guinness World Records, the Bible is the most printed book with the largest circulation in the world, and we have not even taken into account online Bibles and Bible apps. God willing, millions of people in far corners of the world are being reached for Christ. The Word is definitely not in short supply. Demand and desire for the Truth is.
Increasingly, unbelievers by their very sinful nature have become more and more hostile to believers (2 Timothy 3:1-8 and Rom 1:28-32) who uphold the fundamental doctrines of the Bible. When they do this, they are being directly hostile to Christ. God searches hearts and foreknows the decision of every person and whether his name is in the Lamb's Book of Life.
The unrepentant sinner's opportunity for salvation is gone forever and tragically, the Lake of Fire awaits his soul. God has pronounced the famine upon him and caused the Word and the Truth to cease to be heard or understood and he is not even aware of it. On whomever God witholds the hearing of the Truth, it causes that person to become deaf to the Gospel of Salvation.
GOD IS THE GATEKEEPER OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING
A person can study the Bible and attain a PhD in Theology and still only possess head knowledge. Learned academics of the Bible are unable to perceive God's Truth in His Word but an uneducated peasant in a remote village can step into the light of Christ. God ultimately decides to whom He will grant wisdom and spiritual understanding. His promise is that when we are responsive in a positive way to His corrective leading, He will divinely open our eyes to spiritual wisdom and understanding.
When we speak of the 'famine of the hearing of the Word of God', let's go to the Bible to know what "hearing" in Amos 8:11-13 means. In the Hebrew Word Study and Strong's Hebrew Dictionary of the Old Testament, the word "hearing" can mean the following:
1. Hear with the ears
2. Listen closely, listen carefully, pay attention, listen with interest
3. Understand, comprehend
4. Agree with
5. Consent, yield to, obey
Let's explain from a layman's perspective the above process flow. God's Word is delivered to us by speech, on print, offline or online ie. we get to literally hear the Word or read the Word. As we pay close attention, we process and retain what we hear or read. When the Holy Spirit grants us wisdom and understanding, we can underestand and have insight into what God is saying in His Word. The Word speaks to our hearts and guides us to agreement with what is Godly, just and righteous and we are willing to yield to the Lord and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. This is of course a simplistic description of the believer's journey of faith in Christ and the spiritual significance of being able to hear the Word that is revealed by the Lord.
HOW DOES GOD WITHHOLD THE HEARING OF THE WORD?
God can cause the famine of hearing of the Word in various ways and here are some of them.
1. God can thwart the wisdom of the wise and nullify the understanding of the prudent.
2. God can give a sinner over to a wretched mind
3. God can bring great distress upon a man that he will be helplessly lost and is not able to see clearly.
4. God can use Satan to cause the sinner, who is persistently hostile to the Gospel, to become spiritually blind.
5. God can harden hearts and when this happens, God has decided the sinner's eternal fate unless God reverses His judgment.
6. God can cause a sinner to be self-deceived. Think about the professing followers of Jesus who were told by Jesus that He never knew them (Matt 7:21-23)
The worst tragedy to befall any person, community or nation under the judgment of the famine of hearing the Word is that all thought of God, Jesus, repentance and salvation diminishes with time and eventually vanishes completely. Such a man is damned and even though he may profess to follow Christ, he does not even know that every step he takes is a step on the path to eternal damnation.
So I beseech you, heed the warning of Amos and turn to the true and living God who has given us Jesus as the path to redemption and salvation. Remember Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Sno | Verses for God's people | Remarks |
1 | "11 But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me. 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels." Ps 81:11-12 "29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all My reproof." Prov 1:29-30 "And testifiedst against them, that Thou mightest bring them again unto Thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto Thy commandments, but sinned against Thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear." Neh 9:29 |
'Be careful what you wish for.' Sounds familiar? Many of the verses that speak about Jewish stubborness towards God's laws in the Old Testament speak also to today's generation. Modern day Jews are walking according to their own counsel and have adopted the world's practices but not only them, the modern church has done likewise. When the Jews kept shutting their ears to to the Lord, He gave them up to their hearts' desire and they got what they wished for. They were left to their own counsel and could do as they wished. The outcome of leaving God has led Israel into secularism and infamy. The lesson of Sodom and Gomorrah is long forgotten. Israels' sea port Tel Aviv is famous for its uninhibited nightlife and is voted by many to be the gay capital of the Middle East and ultimate LGBTQ travel destination. |
2 | "8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: 9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: 11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." Isa 30:8-11 | Israel kept shutting their ears. Today, there are deviations from the Bible led by leaders and teachers who profess Christ. For example, there are LGBT-affirming churches in mainstream denominatons and churches which have lost their way into the social gospel and climate change has become their primary mission instead of the Great Commission. Many in the church find parts of the Bible offensive and do not wish to hear the truth. |
3 | "13 They soon forgat His works; they waited not for His counsel: 14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. 15 And He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul." Ps 106:13-15 | This is similar to Ps 81:11-12 but in this case, God goes a further step and starved their soul of spiritual nourishment. The Israelites were under bondage but when God set them free, they soon reverted to the so-called security and provisions of Egypt; they raised their voices of discontent and complaint to no end. Eventually, God gave Israel what she wanted, but she lost what was actually needed when God "sent leanness into their soul." |
4 | "7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear His voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known My ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." Heb 3:7-13 | The theme of hardened hearts continues in Heb 3 with a warning that God will not allow the rebellious to enter God's rest. |
5 | "9 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: 10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. 11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. 12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in His spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts. 13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as He cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts:" Zec 7:9-13 | As the Israelites' hearts hardened towards God, they started to harden towards their own brethren, the weak and downtrodden in their community. God had shown them compassion by example, but now they stopped loving even their own within their own community. We would expect the unbelieving world that lovingly embraces sin to stubbornly resist God's word but here, the Israelites were worse. Israel had personally witnessed the power and reality of God and experienced His grace and mercy, and yet they did everything they could to ignore the Lord; they shut their ears, pulled away their shoulder and hardened their hearts and made them impenetrable to do as they pleased. They were accummulating wrath for God's judgment. For many, judgment begins with the Lord causing them to be blind to the Word, thus permanently closing the path to salvation in Christ. That is why there are people who are church-going but reject the innerancy of the Bible. |
6 | "10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath He covered. 11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: 12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. 13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men: 14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid." Isa 29:10-14 | Why did God do to His very own people chosen for Himself? They are the only people before Christ went to the Cross that God chose to be present with and they are the only people given the Truth by way of the Torah, also known as the Pentateuch or five books of the Law. It is a wonder because on His very own people, He poured out upon them the spirit of deep sleep and shut their eyes to spiritual insights and let them be mired in the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law which could save them. The modern day equivalent is of Christians who attend liberal and seeker-sensitive churches which are a type of 'Laodicean' church (Rev 13:7). They think they are wise and self-sufficient, keeping Jesus out and deceiving themselves that they are more than capable with their combined resources, abilities, knowledge and wisdom. The Lord counsels such to anoint their eyes with eye salve, that you may see. (Rev 3:18) but if they persist to be lukewarm, the Lord will disengage Himself from the church and let them believe their own lies as truth. Just as in Isa 29:13, their outward religiosity is pure hypocrisy which will not escape the Lord. In the last days, there will be religious people "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:" 2 Tim 3:5 |
7 | "11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it." Amos 8:11-12 | God's Holy Spirit is the gatekeeper of spiritual wisdom and understanding. God's Word will be available for genuine seekers until the end of the world, but for many people, for reasons known to God, He has pronounced the famine of hearing upon them and causes the Word to cease to be heard or understood even when heard. On whomever the judgment lands, it causes that person to become deaf to the Word. |
8 | "39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He (God) hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them." John 12:39-40 "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." Rom 11:25 "26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: 27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it." Acts 28:26-28 |
When the Jews shut their ears to Jesus and crucified Him, they brought upon themselves and successive generations the worst judgment there can ever be. God's wrath can take many forms but when the judgment is of blindness to the Good News, whomever this judgment falls, salvation is blocked and the pits of hell awaits. Israel has remained God's chosen nation but tragically, millions of Israelites from Jesus' first coming through to this very day, have passed away thinking that they will go to heaven, not knowing that salvation is found only in Jesus. They would not believe and as a result, could not believe the Gospel. It is next to impossible to have a reasonable conversation with a religious Jew about Christ and the Gospel, and not have him cast an evil eye in your direction. Even with the Gospel already reaching the most remote parts of the world, there are only 0.003% of Messianic Jews (Jews who have given their lives to Christ) in Israel and only 0.001% Messianic Jews in the entire world. They are simply not able to hear and understand the Good News. |
9 | "3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." 2 Tim 4:3-4 | We turn to the church and in it are those attending religiously but have stopped hearing sound doctrine and turn to false and demonic doctrines that satisfy their carnality. The word "lusts" is interesting as this word is often used to describe matters of a sexual nature and indicates a falling away and turning to teachers that preach unbiblical doctrines that resonate with their views about sexually-related and other lifestyle matters. |
10 | "That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them." Mark 4:12 | The tragedy of early Israel is the tragedy of people in the modern church. There are many unbiblical movements that have emerged in the last few decades and have taken root in the church. Think Word of Faith, Prosperity gospel, Hyper-grace gospel, Social gospel, Deconstruction, Emergent church, Gender- inclusive, LGBT-affirming, cultural Christianity and the many inter-connected strains of humanistic interpretations of God's Word. Is the Bible to be moulded by man to suit man or is man to be moulded by the Holy Spirit to suit God? |

Sno | Verses for Non-believers | Remarks |
1 | "1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Ps 14:1-3 | Atheists and agnostics are people who say that God does not exist and may demand proof of His existence but will look at creation and yet deny God. They don't want to acknowledge God's existence because in doing so, their own conscience convicts them of sin and they don't want to have to answer to anybody let alone to God who can judge them and send their souls to hell. Consider this. In society, if there is no law and no judge to mete out punishment, then man can live as a law unto himself and be his own judge of what is acceptable and what is not according to whatever standard he sets or no standard at all. That is why Ps 14:1-3 speaks of people who are corrupt, abominable and filthy. This is the way they choose to live. |
2 | "18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; ... 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Rom 1:18,28-32 | God's truth is righteous but ungoldy people know that but hold the truth in unrighteousness. Even Bible-haters know that it is not right to murder but are pro-choice. Debased people vow committment in a ceremony but eventually live an open marriage. Whether it is the famine of the hearing of the Word or God giving people over to a reprobate mind, they are similary damning judgments that have ramifications on the sinner's opportunity to be saved. These judgments have a finality about them and unless the Lord is merciful on a particular sinner, the judgment is likely irreversible. Sinners who are given over to a reprobate mind will have degenerate thoughts that will be hell-bent on depravity. They are already haters of God and He blocks their hearts from ever understanding the Gospel and the power of God unto salvation (Rom 1:16). |
3 | "1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was." 2 Tim 3:1-9 | 2 Tim 3:1-9 continues the theme of human behavior in the last days. It will be perilous for believers who want to stand on the side of God and everything that is opposition to the carnal evils of man. How blatant and obvious does this behavior have to be before we get up from our slumber and see the state of the world it has become? What will it take to set our affection on things above, not on things on the earth? (Col 3:1-25, Rom 8:4-14) |
4 | "21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He pondereth all his goings. 22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray." Prov 5:21-23 | We receive instructions by way of the Word. There is much Godly wisdom for practical application in life and if we would but 'hear' what God is saying in His Word, we would not go astray. To be able to 'hear' clearly is only possible when we truly seek and God responds by opening our hearts and minds to His messaging. When a person is unable to 'hear', he will be without Godly instruction and will make carnally-driven decisions which will doom him. As Rom 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.". Faith that is not based on believing God through His Word, is faith that has to be on something else other than God, and that something else has no assurance and guarantee. |
5 | "3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;" Rom 2:3-5 | In this passage, the Lord directs His warning to a sinning world that continues to detest God's goodness and patience for man to repent and turn to Him. However, their hearts are hardened and have no remorse. |
6 | "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." John 14:17 "4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." Rom 8:4-8 |
Simply put, there are two types of people. One group consists of born again believers who have the indwelling Holy Spirit of truth that guides us into all Godly truth, and one group that cannot receive the Spirit of truth because they choose worldliness over God. |
7 | "43 Why do ye not understand My speech? even because ye cannot hear My word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not." John 8:43-45 | Short of being devil worshippers who have sold their sooul, on the extreme end of the spectrum are people who violently reject the truth. They either cannot be saved or just do not want to have anything to do with Christ. They totally cannot hear or understand the Word. |
Version 23.1.1 |
