Description

WHO IS THE ANTICHRIST?

The Antichrist is a man but he will be an extraordinary man (Dan 7:24). God has ordained that this particular man will be the Antichrist of the End Times and he will be empowered by the devil with authority and to perform "signs and lying wonders" (2 Thess 2:9, Rev 13:2b).

Given that many signs of the End Times have become evident, the Antichrist might already be walking amongst us awaiting the day when God determines that he is to be revealed to the world. He will first deceive his way to power as a peace-loving and unifying leader and will eventually be militarily powerful to flex his muscles against any nation that tries to resist him. The Bible is silent about the US in the End Times and it would appear that even the world's strongest military will be impotent against the Antichrist. He will also appear to be supernaturally invincible, having been mortally wounded and yet fully recover (Rev 13:3).

As "all the world wondered after the beast" (Rev 13:3), his demands to be worshipped as God (Rev 13:5-6, Isa 14:12-14) will be welcomed by the world that will hero worship him (Rev 13:7-8) and proclaim, "Who is like the beast? who is able to make war witth him?" (Rev 13:4)

The Antichrist will put down all religions (Dan 11:36, 2 Thess 2:4) and blaspheme the God of Israel and Jesus Christ of the Bible . He will be filled with murderous hatred epecially towards Israel and true followers of Jesus. He will cause unparalleled destruction, lawlessness and mayhem, never before seen in the history of man. The Bible lists the Antichrist several times.

Christians who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible will know in advance that the End Times will reveal the Antichrist. A type of early Antichrist was Antiochus IV Epiphanes, the Seleucid king of the Hellenistic Syrian kingdom. In 167 BC, he captured Jerusalem and desecrated the Jewish temple by offering the sacrifice of a pig to Zeus on the altar. Zeus is the chief Greek deity, considered to be the father of all gods. Consider the significance of Antiochus' choice of Zeus as the counterfeit 'father' to insult God the Father, the one true God above all gods, who is the "King of kings, and Lord of lords" (1 Tim 6:15). There is online speculation about who the coming Antichrist might be but we will not go into that.

WHY WILL ISRAEL AND THE JEWS WELCOME THE ANTICHRIST?

"21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Cor 1:21-24

In this topic, we use the term 'Jewish Messiah' but for the Jews, the correct term is 'Mashiach' which means 'the anointed one' and not 'Savior' in the Biblical way. Even though the First Coming of Jesus as the Messiah was prophesied by the Jewish prophets and when Jesus was on earth, He showed them many signs and wonders with miraculous power, they still rejected Him and had Him crucified.

So if their long awaited Mashiach arrived in the modern world, how would the Jews recognize him?

The Jews are not expecting their Mashiach to be a God-man or divine being who arrives from heaven to save them from sin. The matter of 'eternal salvation' which is central to Protestant Christianity, is the key differentiator. The Jews are expecting a human who possesses the qualtities to bring about significant change with Israel and the Jews coming out victorious in every way, elevated to the top in eyes of the Middle East and the world.

That is why, Jesus warned about the coming of such a man who will be a false Christ and says, "23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not ... 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not." (Matt 24:23,26).

According to the Orthodox Jews, there are several signs that they will know their 'rightful' Mashiach. We will list the key ones that suggest that when the Antichrist makes his grand entrance, the Jews will be deceived into believing that he is their long awaited Mashiach:

John 10:24-25 "But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils." Matt 12:24. When Jesus performed miracles, the Pharisees made this blasphemous accusation against Jesus instead of acknowledging that only one who is from God can perform such works.
3	The Mashiach will be a great leader, like King David in the time of their forefathers, that will wield the power and authority to restore Jewish pride and usher in Middle East peace, leading all nations to acknowledge and apologize for their mistreatment of Israel.	"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:" Dan 9:27. Pay particular attention to a man who has the extraordinary acumen to potentially bring about genuine peace for Israel in the Middle East. This peace treaty will be welcomed by the Jews because they will have the opportunity to rebuild their Third Temple without Middle Eastern Muslim countries threatening them with war, bombs and missiles, and the rest of the world resisting the re-building for the sake of peace.
4	The Mashiach will oversee the rebuilding of the Third Temple and re-establish temple worship. This is probably the most important proof of their Messiah.	"And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." Matt 24:2. Jesus prophesied that the then existing Second Temple would be completely destroyed (which the Romans did in 70 CE). Jesus was not the bearer of positive news and talk of temple destruction was anathema to the Jews.
5	The Mashiach will reign as king from a throne in the Third Temple.	"Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thess 2:4. The Antichrist will not only want to sit in the Third Temple and reign as a king, he will demand to be worshipped as God. This declaration will not be what the Jews bargained for and they will realize that they have been deceived, in a way by their own earlier failure to acknowledge Scriptural truth.

The above and other reasons will cause Israel and Jews to welcome their long awaited 'Messiah' with open arms and he will turn out to be the Antichrist that the Bible is writes about. The Jews' Mashiach is the Bible's Antichrist.

WILL THE CHURCH BE RAPTURED BEFORE THE RISE OF THE ANTICHRIST?

Will Christians witness the rise of the Antichrist? The answer to that is a "No" and a "Yes". "No" because the Lord will return to rapture His bride, the true church of born again believers, before the Antichrist begins his short, evil regime at the middle of the 7-year Tribulation also known as "the time of Jacob's trouble". The "Yes" is true for those who are not raptured but will be saved during the Tribulation and see the identity of the Antichrist. During this perilous time, many will seek the Lord and be saved. This group includes professing Christians who thought they were saved but were actually not, together with people who will reject the mark of the beast and turn to Jesus. The Holy Spirit will open the eyes of many and empower them to courageously reject the Antichrist to the point of martyrdom (Rev 20:4).

There is compelling Biblical support for the doctrine of the Rapture of the true church of born again believers before the rampage of the Antichrist begins. Some Christians reject a Pretribulation Rapture in favor of two other main schools of thought, namely a Mid-Tribulation / Pre-wrath Rapture and the third view is of a Post-Tribulation Rapture, one that takes place upon Christ's Second Coming. The Post-Tribulation position would mean that the Lamb will let His bride go through God's wrath that is unleashed upon the rebellious world.

WHO IS THE FALSE PROPHET?

The False Prophet will be a satanically-possessed, globally admired faith leader who will lead the world to worship the Antichrist (Rev 13:12). In the End Times, he will be the religious entity in the unholy counterfeit 'trinity' together with Satan and the Antichrist. He will come across as an affable and approachable person. He will display powerful signs, wonders and miracles to deceive the world into thinking that he is empowered by God (Rev 13:13-15). How is it that hundreds of millions or even billions of people will be so easily deceived by the False Prophet? This will happen because God sends a strong delusion (2 Thess 2:11) to a Christ-rejecting world to blindly believe the deceptions.

The False Prophet will share the Antichrist's rage and hatred towards the Jews who worship God and the born again believers of Jesus. During the Tribulation, God will open the eyes of many to the Truth and give them boldness to stand firm against the Antichrist to the point of martyrdom (Rev 20:4). The Bible offers a detailed description of the False Prophet's role and it is filled with unadulterated ugliness.

"And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon." Rev 13:11
"12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live." Rev 13:12-14
"And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed." Rev 13:15

THEN COMES THE END

The Antichrist and the False Prophet will rule for three and half years but they will be righteously dealt with by Jesus and once and for all, will be banished by the Lord and cast alive into the Lake of Fire. "alive" is a significant word emphasizing that they will experience unimaginable torment for eternity in the form they have been all along, namely in a 'bodily' form. As only God can, He will transform their mortal bodies into imperishishable bodies to be subject to the excrutiating, burning fire and experience torment forever and ever. A thousand years later, Satan will be cast in after the Millennial Kingdom on earth is over.

"19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with Him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." Rev 19:19-20
"7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them." Rev 20:7-9
"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Rev 20:10

Finally, the very embodiment of the worst of evil will be no more. The saints of God welcome the New Heaven and New Earth. The end is glorious and words cannot describe the joy and jubilation that believers like us will experience.

IN LIGHT OF WHAT WE KNOW, HOW SHOULD A CHRISTIAN LIVE HIS LIFE?

How a Christian lives out his life depends on his position regarding the timing of the Rapture. There are many Christians who think that Christ's Second Coming is still a long way off and at its earliest, the next generation would see it. There are also many Christians who are not taught about the End TImes and remain unaware of what the Bible says. Some Christians are indifferent while some are Amillennialists who believe that the current age is already the Millennial Kingdom.

Will it be reasonable to suggest that a person facing a life-threatening situation for eg. of being told that he has only six months left, will want to live differently? He will most likely prioritize his remaining time where certain people and things to do become critically important and other things will no longer be important.

The same can be said about Christians who desire to live in the light of the Lord's coming in their lifetime, that they will be inspired by the following:

"that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;" Col 1:10
"11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless." 2 Peter 3:11-14
""Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." 2 Tim 4:8

The following instructions apply and are true for our time on earth. We ought to reach out, at the very least to the people that we care about and share the Gospel of Salvation while praying for God's mercy to be upon them.

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit." Isa 14:12-15	God had created a magnificent archangel called Lucifer. Today, he is widely known as Satan. Ezekiel writes that Lucifer was an anointed cherub, God's worksmanship of heavenly beauty and wisdom (Eze 28:12-15). One day, pride got into Lucifer's head and he deluded himself and began his "I will" be as great if not greater than God tirade. Lucifer wanted to be exalted in the heavens. Of course God is the Almighty and Lucifer is one of His creations. No one messes with God and gets away with it. Lucifer rebelled and was cast out of heaven to earth (Isa 14:12) together with one third of heaven's angels who took his side. During Jesus' Millennial Kingdom reign on earth (Rev 20:3) Satan will be imprisoned in the bottomless pit after which, he will be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire for eternity (Matt 25:41) together with every soul whose name is not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Satan is not the king of Hell as is popularly perceived. Satan is just one of the damned in Hell. All of these events only go to show that God has ultimate sovereignty, supremacy, power and authority over every created being and all creation.
2	"And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel." 1 Chr 21:1	'Satan', Lucifer's given name is first mentioned in 1 Chro 21:1 when he stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel's fighting men. This is significant in that this is the first time he is mentioned by name, Satan which means 'opposer, accuser, adversary' is identified as the nemesis of Israel, God's chosen people and His wife (Eze 16:8, Jer 3:14), and of David, the Messianic reference to Jesus who descended from David (Matt 1:1).
3	"Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour." 1 John 2:18	Fast forward and the words of John speak even louder today. Another signpost of the End Times is the emergence of many scoffers within the church (2 Peter 3:3-4). They dismissively ask, "Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." For believers listening to John, hearing that "the Antichrist is coming" and "it is the last hour" would have been terrifying. The end of the world (Matt 24:3) was on the disciples' minds and this matter was again being raised by John, such is the importance of this coming event preceding the Lord's return.

We are already seeing evidence of the first signpost of people who profess Christ "falling away from the faith" (2 Thess 2:3-4). This is discussed in 'SP8 The Falling Away'. 2. The second signpost is the unveiling of the Antichrist, "that man of sin, the son of perdition" (2Thess 2:3) We subscribe to the Pretribulation Rapture and believe that we will not see the blasphemous day when the Antichrist proclaims to be God. The Tribulation is also known as "the time of Jacob's trouble" (Jer 30:6-8) which means that God has also purposed it for the descendants of Jacob, namely modern day Israel. God will use the Antichrist's onslaught to turn Israel to God's redemption in Christ as prophesied (Rom 11:25-27). The Antichrist will stand in the third temple and proclaim himself to be God. The building of the third temple has greater significance to the Jews compared to Christians in terms of a place of worship and God's presence. We are the living temple of God and He lives in us. The Jews are waiting for their long awaited Messiah and he will appear in the flesh. Christians know all to well that Christ will supernaturally return in the clouds from heaven riding on a white horse (Rev 19:11) and will not arrive in a limousine (Matt 24:26).
5	"15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." Matt 24:15,21	The mid-point of the 7 year Tribulation, based on Jewish calendar years, marks the start of the three and a half year period called the Great Tribulation. Just as the Antichrist begins his massacre of the Jews and resisting Gentiles, the wrath of God is unleashed on his global followers against Israel. The Bible describes this as the worst time in mankind's history.
6	"26 and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he (the Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." Dan 9:26-27	At the beginning of the Tribulation, the Antichrist will confirm a covenant of peace between Israel and her enemies, primarily Middle Eastern nations This will be celebrated by the UN and global community. Israel's long awaited Middle East peace and desire to re-build the Third Temple without opposition will finally be realized. To the world, the Holy Temple in Jerusalem is a building of worship. To the Jews, it is the tabernacle for the Divine Presence of God to reside. It is all going great for the Jews. They are already a prosperous nation, they have a mighty army, they now have peace, the Third Temple and they have the presence of God. This will be Israel's golden age, yes? However, in the middle of 'Daniel's 70th week' 7 year Tribulation (Dan 9:24) precisely after 1,260 days from when the covenant of peace is made, the Antichrist will put an immediate stop to the daily sacrifice in the Third Temple in Jerusalem and proclaim himself to be God and demand that the Jews and the world worship him, or else.
7	"1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority ... 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? ... 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." Rev 13:1-2,4,8	Revelation explains the rise of the Antichrist. The dragon that gives him power is none other than Satan whose obsession to be worshipped and exalted consumes him. While here on earth, he goes to great lengths to empower two men-beasts. One is the Antichrist who is the powerful, 'kingly, ruling' personification of Satan and the other is the False Prophet, the 'religious, priestly' talking head of false religion and deception. They form the counterfeit 'priestly king' and together with Satan, they form the unholy counterfeit trinity to the divine Trinity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Satan has lost his place in heaven and he is left with only one place in all of creation to try to establish his rule, this place we call planet earth. This is his final attempt to set up a throne and he appears to succeed for the second three and a half years of the Tribulation, which is the Great Tribulation period. For that moment, he will face little resistance (Rev 13:4) and will overcome the saints (Rev 13:7), who will be killed as martyrs for Christ because they will not bow to the beast or take the mark of the beast. The Antichrist will be worshipped around the world but not by those who God has foreknown will place their faith in Jesus (Rom 8:29).
8	"1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, ... 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" Rev 13:1,3-4	The beast out of the sea is the Antichrist and his benefactor is Satan. He is but a man just like you and I. If he is alive today, he got out of bed this morning, brushed his teeth, had a bath, got dressed, had breakfast and started the day just like any of us. Judging from the time we live in evident by the depth that mankind has morally sunked to, the Antichrist might already be amongst us. Rev 13:3 says that he will one day be mortally wounded but will miraculously recover and amaze the world. Given that he makes the headlines, it means that this man will be well-known and newsworthy. Rev 13:4 says that the Antichrist will one day be globally adored and exalted and militarily powerful.
9	"5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His Name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints." Rev 13:5-10	Followers of the other religions will be blinded and deceived into believing that the Antichrist is God, while he openly blasphemes the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Rev 13:6) and Christ of the Christians. That is why he can declare war on the saints (Rev 13:7). The entire world will worship him because they walk in spiritual darkness; their names are not in the Lamb's book of life (Rev 13:8) and so they don't have the indwelling Holy Spirit to open their eyes to see the Antichrist for who he really is. During this time, God has ordained for many of His chosen to reject the beast and be saved but it will be by way of martyrdom. Such courage can only be found in people whose God's Spirit will empower just like the apostles and saints of the New Testament.
10	"36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. 39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain." Dan 11:36-39	The Antichrist will be worshipped by the world as God. This is a blasphemous act and an affront to Israel in their worship of the God of their forefathers and they will see his true nature as a megalomaniac possessed and empowered by Satan. The Antichrist "opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship". It means that he will elevate himself above every god from every religion and any form of worship in the world as we know it. With the help of his wingman, the False Prophet (Rev 13:11-15) so-called global 'religious freedom' will be abolished. Satan will elevate himself to the top of the food chain in the bodily embodiment of the Antichrist and could not achieve his goal in heaven but he will succeed on earth, permitted by God, albeit for a short time. He will exercise formidable authority he would have accumulated by that point and project his unholy and military strength against anyone who dares resist.
11	"16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." Rev 13:16-18	When the Antichrist subsequently implements the mark of the beast transaction system that bears his name or his mark, the people whose names are not written in the Lamb's book of life will readily adopt it. This is ultimately how the Antichrist will sift those who follow him from those that defy him. No human being can go without food and water for days on end. When a person is unable to buy and sell in most parts of the world, that is when only those who are prepared to be martyrs will be willing to starve and many will lean on God for a miracle to survive. Those who perish as martyrs will gain a place in the Kingdom.

1	"11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed." Rev 13:11-15	The False Prophet will be revealed at the same time as the Antichrist. Just as the Antichrist is the frontman for Satan, the False Prophet will be the wingman of the Antichrist wth the role of delivering on the Antichrist's desire to be worshipped as God.. Over 3,000 years ago, Pharaoh's sorcerers and magicians practiced the dark arts. 'Magic' was a powerfully intimidating weapon for those who possessed it because man has always been intrigued with the unknown and the spirit world. Through time, generations have treated as special, the 'spiritual' intermediaries who can converse with the supernatural and mysterious unseen world of spirits and deities. This occurs in various religions. In the modern church, there are so-called modern day apostles and prophets who use suspiciously questionable 'signs and wonders' to wow the peoplle that they are specially annointed by God. In the last days, the False Prophet steps up to this role for the Antichrist because that is how deceived people think. He will wow the audience with great wonders and miracles and deceive the world into believing the Antichrist is their long-awaited messiah. The heads of the world's major religions will surrender their leadership and authority to the Antichrist and the False Prophet.

Rev 13:16-18	It is interesting that Rev 13:16-17 writes of the actions of the False Prophet. This 'religious' man oversees the implementation of the mark of the beast which is about global transactions, something not ordinarily under the purview of religion. During this period, it makes sense that this is the case. The goal of Satan is not to control the monetary, financial and economic system because he already has a hand in the current world system (1 John 5:19, Matt 4:8-9). Satan's primary aim has always been to take God's place at the centre of worship. Born again Christians are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13-14) which marks the believer as belonging to God. Similarly, the mark of the beast is a seal that marks the follower of the beast and Satan. Such a person rejects God's seal in Jesus as the Savior. The Bible is silent as to how the mark of the beast will be physically implemented but the significance of the spiritual connotation cannot be missed. The use of the mark to buy or sell is ultimately tied to a person's ability to buy food and water which will be designed to force everyone into taking the mark. Only those with the seal of the Holy Spirit will have the courage to be martyrs at that point.
3	"13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." Rev 16:13-14	This is obviously a demonic counterfeit of the Trinity and they will deceive world leaders into thinking they are overwhelmingly powerful with a combined force of millions of heavily armed troops and over 13,000 nuclear warheads that is currently in the arsenals of the world's armies. They delude themselves into thinking that would be a formidable force and can easily overrun the Lord's camp. Satan has known God from his time in heaven and knows the prophecies in the Bible and how it will end for him. He knows that he cannot defeat Jesus but he is going to take as many souls as he can with him into eternal damnation.
4	"19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with Him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." Rev 19:19-20	The world leaders don’t like the idea of bowing their knee to Jesus and they foolishly send their armies to make war against Him. This is the shortest and quickest war in mankind's history if it can even be termed a war amongst equals. It is totally one-sided and will be over the very second it begins when the sword of the Lord goes forth. The losers are spelled out. They are the Antichrist, the False Prophet and the world's armies they lead.
5	"7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Rev 20:7-10	A thousand years later, Satan will be loosed out of his prison (Rev 20:7) for a short time. Always rebelling against Jesus, Satan will make one final attempt to overrun Jerusalem, knowing that his time is up. Satan will once again deceive the hundreds of millions or billions of people who have populated the earth during the 1,000 years. These are the generations descended from the initial 'sheep' who entered the Millennial Kingdom. Their rebellious sinful nature is inborn. They are easy to win over and they have waited for a leader to lead them to reject the holy and righteously strict rule of Christ (Rev 2:27, Rev 12:5). Once again, they think that they are superior in number and can defeat Jesus and His unarmed followers (Isa 2:4), as easy as taking candy from a baby. Again it is a war with a predictable outcome. God sends fire from heaven to devour the rebels and Satan is captured and cast into the Lake of Fire, the final hell of burning brimstone where the damned shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
