"21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: 22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all." Ezekiel 37:21-22.

SHALL A NATION BE BROKEN UP?

The history of Israel will show that God was good to the Israelites but they were stiff-necked, rebellious and idolatrous, seeking the foreign gods of the lands around them. The men married the foreign women and 'imported' their gods into daily worship. This greatly angerd God and happened again and again despite the Lord’s strongest deterence, often by way of foreign invaders. God’s long suffering and patience with His people finally ran out and He decided to disperse the Jews to the nations of the world. However, God's plan was to bring them back to form a nation at His appointed time.

"And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you." Deut 4:27

HOW WILL THE SEED OF ISRAEL’S RE-BIRTH BEGIN?

The prophecy from Ezekiel 37 speaks of a nation of dry bones rising up to become a great army. Taking the verses and placing them in prophetic order, the 'concise' version would read something like this.

"21 Behold, I (the LORD) will take the children of Israel from among the heathen (the nations of the world), … (The LORD instructs Ezekiel) 4 Prophesy upon these bones, … O ye dry bones, … 6 I (the LORD) will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; ... 14 and I (the LORD) shall place you in your own land: … 12 and bring you into the land of Israel. ... 10 and stood up upon their feet an exceeding great army. … 22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel;" Eze 37

SHALL A NATION BE BORN AT ONCE?

As of 13 May 1948 for anyone old enough at that time, a nation called Israel did not exist except in the hearts of Jews all over the world. They held on with hope that the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets would come to pass in their lifetime.

On 14 May 1948 Israel was born, literally in one day as Isaiah had prophesied in Isa 66:8 "shall a nation be born at once?" going on to ask "Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things?" For millions of Jews, it was a prayer come true. For many more millions of people especially in the Middle East, it was unthinkable that this could happen.

Over 6,000 years of mankind’s history has passed and even the world’s greatest empires have come and gone. The mightiest and most powerful amongst them could not survive the ages. Yet in that one moment, an entire people that was dispersed across the world, were led in their hearts to return to a homeland that just the day before on 13 May 1948 did not exist. Israel is God’s chosen people and this remains true to this day and till the end of time on earth as we know it.

"the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth." Deut 7:6

ISRAEL TODAY

As of September 2023, there were 15.7 million Jews (Source: Jewish Agency for Israel) spread over 195 countries globally. Of these, 7.2 million Jews reside in Israel. Overall, Jews make up a tiny 0.002% of the massive 8.1 billion global population.

Israel is a secular democracy with a government headed by a Prime Minister as commander-in-chief of what is probably the best trained and battle-hardened armed forces in the Middle East and possibly the entire world.

This form of governance will one day be changed to a Monarchy with Christ as King when He returns in His Second Coming and fulfills this wonderful prophecy "one King shall be King to them all:" Eze 37:22. It will also be Theocratic (1 Peter 2:9, Rev 5:10).

Isa 66:8-9	Prior to Israel being formed, God exiled the Jews using human agents. The Jews were dispersed to the gentile nations all over the world for nearly 2,000 years. Fast forward to a date that God determined, and He brought them back to the land He first promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants. In one day, on Friday 14 May 1948, Israel was formed and no one could stop God from doing His good pleasure and fulfilling prophecy.
2	"8 When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine," says the Lord God." Eze 16:8 ... 20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto Me, ... 21 thou hast slain My children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?" Eze 16:20-21	Why did God choose Israel and not another people to be His wife? Only He knows. As to whether it is fair to the rest of mankind that He specifically chose her, God is above questioning and answers only to Himself. God chose Israel to become His wife simply "because the Lord loved you" (Deut 7:8). In Amos 3:2, God says "You only have I known of all the families of the earth:"
3	"6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. 7 The Lord did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8 But because the Lord loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn unto your fathers," Deut 7:6-8	Israel is not only God's wife but a "holy people", a "special people" set "above all people" on planet earth.
4	"For Thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be Thine inheritance, as Thou spakest by the hand of Moses Thy servant," 1 Kings 8:53	Israel is God's inheritance and this was true then and is true now and until the end of time.
5	"7 And I will establish my covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." Gen 17:7-8	God Himself made an everlasting covenant of peace with Israel but of course, the Israel of today is a secular nation and does not truly understand God's covenant. In the End Times, Israel will instead be drawn to a covenant with their 'messiah' who will turn out to be the Antichrist.

We have moved verses around and placed into a narrative that makes it easier to grasp. Prior to 1948 and true to today, God has moved the hearts of Jews residing among the many nations, to return to their homeland in a journey called Aliyah. This move is not just a geographical return for the Jews into a nation they can call they very own but it has deep spiritual meaning for returning Jews. God has moved their hearts and placed in them a longing, attachment and love for their homeland.
7	"14 And I will bring again the captivity of My people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God." Amos 9:14-15	Ezekiel's prophecy spoken of again in Amos, came to life from the moment Israel was founded in 1948.
8	"8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to My people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. 9 For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: 10 And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded: 11 And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. 12 Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even My people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men." Eze 36:8-12	God prepared the land to receive the Jews and provide for them abundantly. Israel has become a successful and prosperous powerhouse for technology, entrepreneurship, business and commerce, and one of the wealthiest nations in the world.
9	"Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:" Jer 3:14	Today, Tel Aviv has put Israel on the world map but not in a flattering way. It has an ungodly reputation as 'the gay capital of the Middle East' (Source: Out Magazine) and 'the gayest city on earth' (Source: The Boston Globe). Far from being a "holy people" for now, God will draw a remnant of Israel unto Himself and refine them during "the time of Jacob's trouble" (Jer 30:7) which is the Tribulation. Israel is God's wife. Ultimately, it is a marriage covenant that will be renewed and one, to begin with, that has never been broken based on God's very own law regarding marriage, "For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth;" Rom 7:2 God as Israel's Husband is alive forever.
